Graphic Design Project: Parent Support Services Society of BC

Shortly after I finished college, I did an internship with Vancouver Community Network, an organization that offers design and development services to non-profit organizations. I was placed with Parent Support Services Society of BC to help them create some well-designed advertising materials. Here are some of my favourites.

Rack Card Front

This is a rack card I created so that people who wanted more info about their services could easily grab something in the office. It's a good place to start for my PSS projects- the aesthetic is very emblamatic of the branding I wanted to create. It looks friendly but still professional.

Volunteer poster

I had an interesting challenge to overcome with the posters I designed: they had to be well-designed while also being editable in Microsoft Word so other people could work with them to change the dates or locations.

I designed them in InDesign first, then worked on them in Word to make sure nothing would break. I then packaged them up with some instructions and font files so even someone who wasn't a computer whiz could rework the design.

AGM report

One of the first projects I worked on for PSS was the annual report. It was an exciting start for me- I'm kind of a desktop-publishing nerd and love working with lots of copy.

While working with PSS, I learned a lot about people who dedicate considerable time and effort to making sure that children are well-supported by their parents. It was amazing to work with such a selfless group of people.
